Star Youth Association (SYA)

Nandyal & Kurnool Districts of Andhra Pradesh State

As part of the AP Jal Jeevan Mission in Nandyal and Kurnool districts, Star Youth Association (SYA) supported the Government of Andhra Pradesh’s goal of ensuring Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) in every rural home. SYA assisted Gram Panchayats and village committees in planning, implementing, and maintaining in-village water supply systems. The initiative focused on community participation, especially women’s involvement, promoting ownership, and sustainable water use. Local SHGs, youth groups, and CBOs were actively engaged to make water everyone’s responsibility and ensure long-term potable water access.

Rural Drinking Water Supply Scheme

Under the RWSS Jal Jeevan Mission in Balangir Circle, Odisha, Star Youth Association (SYA) partnered with the Government to ensure Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) for all rural households. The initiative supported Gram Panchayats in planning, implementing, and managing in-village water systems. Emphasis was placed on community ownership, especially women’s participation in water governance and greywater reuse. SHGs, youth, and CBOs were engaged in awareness and capacity-building activities. The mission aimed to make water everyone’s responsibility and ensure safe, sustainable drinking water through inclusive and community-led approaches.

Atal Bhujal Yojana (ABHY)

Under the Atal Bhujal Yojana (ABHY), Star Youth Association (SYA) served as a District Implementation Partner in Karnataka, providing technical and managerial support to DPMU/SPMU and key stakeholders. The project focused on capacity building and facilitated the preparation and updating of Participatory Water Security Plans at the Gram Panchayat level. Activities were carried out in Holalkere taluk of Chitradurga District and Hagaribommanahalli taluk of Bellary District, promoting community-led groundwater management and strengthening local institutions under the Atal Jal program for sustainable water resource governance.

World Bank Aided Andhra Pradesh Integrated Irrigation and Agriculture Transformation Project (APIIATP)

Under the World Bank–aided APIIATP project in Kurnool District, Star Youth Association (SYA) worked to enhance agricultural productivity, profitability, and climate resilience through tank-based irrigation systems. The initiative strengthened Water User Associations (WUAs) for participatory irrigation management, promoted agri-livelihoods, and introduced technologies to boost water-use efficiency. It supported irrigation system restoration, addressed water management and recharge issues, and mobilized resources for sustainable WUA operations. Beneficiaries included small and marginal farmers, WUAs, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and agro-entrepreneurs, fostering a climate-resilient and farmer-driven agricultural ecosystem.

Financial Aid to Widows to send their children to schools

Star Youth Association (SYA) extended monthly financial aid to 23 widows, providing ₹2,000–₹3,000 per month to support their children’s education and basic livelihood needs. With a generous grant of ₹41,000 from SEED, USA, the funds were directly transferred to the personal bank accounts of the beneficiaries. This initiative aimed to ease the financial burden on vulnerable women-headed households, enabling access to education and stability for their children, while fostering dignity and empowerment through targeted and transparent support.
